Mazda engineers mixed that blend and named it RX-7 Turbo. It's for those with a certain glimmer in their eyes.
Under its purposefully sleek exterior is the RX-7's fully-independent suspension: MacPherson struts in front, the exclusive Dynamic Track
ing Suspension System (DTSS) in the rear. The RX-7 Turbo's springs, shocks and anti-roll bars are tuned for high-demand drivers. Brakes feature four-piston, aluminum calipers on the ventilated front discs. Unidirectional 16 x 7 alloy wheels mount 205/55VR16 Goodyear "Gatorback" tires.
Under the hood is the world's only production turbocharged rotary engine, fed with electronic fuel injection. The offset air scoop leads to an intercooler which condenses the intake mixture, optimizing efficiency and power.
In this very un-ordinary system, a valve in the dual-entry turbocharger inlet regulates exhaust gas pressure to maximize turbine blade impact at lower engine speeds or flow at higher speeds.
